Ever listen to an album that makes you visualize a different place and time? I do all the time. After listening to Hamilton, Ontario's Monster Truck and their 2013 album, "Furiosity" it happened yet again. It is cold as hell here in the midwest right now, but while listening to "Furiosity" all I could picture was sitting on the back deck with a cold can of Budweiser and a pack of smokes in the middle of July. This is straight up in your face rock n' roll but with a heavier sound. Jon Harvey's vocals make you think back to bands like Blackfoot and Free but with a 2013 twist. The twist is a simple addition of a bit of "heaviness," some Zepplin style heaviness. Jeremy Widerman, plays guitar like he was channeling the delta blues and Black Sabbath. It's big time! The drums and organ played by, Steve Kiely and Brandon Bliss, help bring the soulful, bluesy music to life.
The album starts off with a bang on "Old Train" and finishes with the slow heavy rocker, "My Love Is True" All the songs on the album sound great by my two favorites are, "Sweet Mountain River" and "Call It A Spade"
If you like bluesy, soulful, heavy, rock n roll/metal This album is a must have. With a 9/10, I will be listening to "Furiosity" all winter to get me ready to blast it at full volume on the back deck with a cold can of Budwieser and a pack of smokes this summer.
Check out the song "Sweet Mountain River" below and tell me that you don't want to go drink a beer and have a smoke! Rock On MONSTER TRUCK!
